The Emperor’s New Clothes

In 2018, an influential president removed presidential term limits and presented grandiose visions for a powerful country. Datong Li, a former editor of the China Youth Daily, claimed that delegates knew the amendment was wrong, but no one had the courage to speak out. I created a painting to reflect this phenomenon. Through color and composition, I address the irony of the man in power. The two-dimensional color blocks, divided by grids, transform into a three-dimensional space. The colors shift from realistic to saturated, symbolizing the sickness and cruelty of current politics.
